Astra Codex Daniele Davitti

Always committed to protecting and promoting Florentine artistic craftsmanship, the Istituto de’ Bardi is hosting Astra Codex, an exhibition of textile art by Daniele Davitti.
Astra Codex is presented as a fascinating astrological compendium: twelve panels dedicated to the signs of the zodiac, which are not represented through their traditional symbols, but reinterpreted from works of art and architectural details found in Florence, transformed into anthropomorphic figures of extraordinary visual power.
Each panel is entirely hand-embroidered with white and gold threads on antique fabrics dyed in antique pink by the Ratafià workshop.
A project rich in meaning, set in a context of great value, reminding us how Florence has been, and continues to be, a creative laboratory where history, art, and craftsmanship come together.
